SENECA Project (European Maintenance Educational Networking)
- The SENECA project (European Maintenance Education Networking) is designed by the Salvetti Foundation in order to fill in its purposes as written in article 2 of its Constitution:
"the support of science and scientific research as well as training and education.
- The SENECA concept
The project is aimed at creating an active forum for students and young professionals in the field of industrial maintenance, enabling them to extend their skills and to improve their competences. This by providing access to the European Educational and Training System in the fields of science and engineering, with particular emphasis to industrial maintenance, and by supporting them in finding industrial stages to further their knowledge and competence.
The project is not intended to be a simple addres book of technical institutes and universities for European maintenance courses, nor shall it be an easy access method for job hunting. It shall be an assets database of persons that are active in this field as educators or trainers, with relevant curricula, able to speak English and available to travel for short periods in order to hold course inside Europe, and of persons able to mediate in finding temporary training stages in industry.
SENECA's first aim is to establish contacts with the relevant educators and trainers in the various European education and training institutes and find them willing to participate in the project with the aim to support the goals and also to increase the level of the European educational and training system by profiting of the interaction among the various institutes in Europe.
SENECA's second aim is to communicate to the members of the target group – the students and the young professionals that are active or plan to be active in the field of industrial maintenance – the possibilities of participating in the project finding the best education and training in the field, not only on a local or regional scale, but on a full European level.
SENECA's third aim is to find companies that are willing and able to supply stages for the members of the target group to further their development, thus creatinf true "European managers", according to the goals of the Salvetti Foundation.
SENECA's fourth aim is to communicate these opportunities to the members of the target group.
- Research method
The Foundation want to attract a researcher on part time basis to conduct an investigation of the European Universities, Colleges, Schools and Training Institutes to find teachers in the broadest sense who are willing and able to participate in the project. For this purpose he will work closely with the Governors of the Foundation and with the National Representatives of the EFNMS Member Societies (members of the EFNMS General Assembly).
- Mode of operation
For the communication of the education, training, and stage opportunities to the relevant students and young professionals, Salvetti Foundation will call on the support of the EFNMS, both the Federation as a whole and on the individual Member Societies.
